- · 2+ years experience in the telecoms field ·
- Cabling experience and IT skills ·
- Experience in using hand tools ·
- Single core fiber splicing experience ·
- Ribbon splicing (optional) ·
- Working in existing Live and new joints ·
- Read and understand paperwork and designs
- Testing, analysis, and uploading results to workbooks ·
- Fault investigation and rectification skills using OTDR, PON, and Ethernet tester. ·
- Terminate power for DC transmission equipment and use a multi-meter. ·
- Finalize and submission of paperwork (as-built) after completion of a job ·
- Good and professional communication skills with customers and with team members.
Job Duties of a Telecom Technician:
- Reading design, and line diagrams to install equipment and cable as per scope of work.
- Termination of data and optical cables at carriers’ equipment or at customers’ premises. ·
- Jointing copper and Optical cables using different types of enclosure of mechanical ports or heat shrinking ports. ·
- Installing new 5G wireless projects for different carriers and upgrading optical and microwave transmission links for wireless huts.(optional) ·
- Using telecommunication equipment to troubleshoot and locate faults and repair them.
- · Using telecommunication test equipment to test and commission installed services. ·
- Installation and working on carriers’ transmission equipment. ·
- Installation of telephony systems, CCTV systems, servers, computers, switches, and routers. ·
- Termination of DC equipment power and testing them using a multimeter
- Fill forms and reports required as per the job description. ·
- Analyze worksite identify hazards and induct your team daily.
