Job Duties of a Kitchen/ Baker Helper:

While the job is about three job positions i.e. Waiter/ Kitchen Helper/ Baker Helper, we will define the positions of Kitchen Helper and Baker Helper as the term Waiter is familiar to everyone but the term helper is easily confused. So we will define them both turn by turn

Kitchen Helper/ Bakery Helper :

  • Preparing meal ingredients for the cook, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing ingredients.
  • Assisting kitchen staff in unloading food supplies from delivery trucks.
  • Properly washing and drying all dishes, utensils, cooking instruments, and cutting boards.
  • Neatly putting away all utensils, cooking instruments, dishes, and cutting boards in their respective places.
  • Packing takeout orders as needed.
  • Removing garbage, replacing garbage bags, and washing garbage cans.
  • Mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required.
  • Storing ingredients and food items according to food safety standards.
  • Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.

Waiter Duties:

  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Collect payments from customers.
  • Write attentively food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Serve food or beverages and/or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
  • Present menus to the customer and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
  • Clean tables or counters after guests have finished.
  • Set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
  • Inform customers of daily specials.
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
  • Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
  • Escort customers to their tables.
  • Audit all plates & order before serving.
  • Describe and recommend famous restaurant specialties to the customer.
